Dr Arvinder S Kurbaan
BSc MD FRCP – Director of the London Heart Centre
Dr Kurbaan is currently the Consultant Cardiologist for the London Heart Centre and Homerton University Hospital. He has previously held Consultant Cardiologist posts at the London Chest and St Bartholomew’s Hospitals as well as The Heart Hospital. He also has admitting rights at the Harley Street Clinic hospital (part of HCA International) where he has access to perform procedures in their state of the art Angiography Suite.
He graduated in 1990 from Guy’s Hospital medical school (now part of Kings College, London) to embark upon his medical training. In 1993 he became a member of the Royal College of Physicians, London. Having completed his general medical training at Guy’s and associated hospitals; he undertook his training in Cardiology at Harefield, Royal Brompton and St Mary’s Hospital.
He was awarded the higher post graduate degree of Doctorate in Medicine (MD) having undertaken research at Imperial College London developing a better understanding of the treatment of coronary heart disease. He was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP) in 2003.
Dr Kurbaan is entered into the GMC Specialist Register for Cardiology (and General Internal Medicine). He is a member of the British Cardiovascular Society and British Cardiovascular Intervention Society.
Dr Kurbaan has published comprehensively within the Cardiology Literature throughout his career and has presented his work internationally at Cardiology Conferences.
He is actively involved in teaching both at undergraduate and postgraduate level. He has also been involved with the development of novel devices in the cardiovascular field. His wide-ranging training has enabled him to develop special interests within the broad field of Cardiology - his specialist interests include: treating blockages in the heart arteries (Coronary Angioplasty/Stenting), closing holes in the heart (closure of patent foramen ovale and atrial septal defects) and treating damaged heart valves.

Dr Edward Rowland
MD FRCP FESC FACC – Director of the London Heart Centre
Dr Rowland is currently a Consultant Cardiologist for the London Heart Centre. He has admitting rights at the Harley Street Clinic hospital (part of HCA International) where he also has access to perform procedures in their state of the art Angiography Suite.
Dr Rowland graduated from St Bartholomew’s Hospital Medical School, London and trained in Cardiology at The Royal Postgraduate Medical School/Hammersmith Hospital and at the National Heart Hospital. In 1989 he was appointed to the National Heart and Lung Institute and the Royal Brompton National Heart Hospital. In 1992 he moved to St. George’s Hospital, helping to develop the treatment of heart rhythm problems, and becoming Clinical Director of Cardiology. In January 2008, he moved to become Consultant Cardiologist at University College Hospital.
Dr Rowland’s special interest is in cardiac rhythm disorders, clinical cardiac electrophysiology, catheter ablation techniques and implantable devices for rhythm control.
He is currently Member of the Department of Health Arrhythmia Board and President of Heart Rhythm UK, the professional society for clinical staff involved in delivering treatment of cardiac arrhythmias.
He was Chairman of the Multicentre European Radiofrequency Survey, Past Chairman of the European Society of Cardiology Working Group on Computers in Cardiology and a council member of the British Pacing & Electrophysiology Group. He was co-chair of the expert panel responsible for National Service Framework document on Cardiac Arrhythmias and Sudden Death.

Dr. Han B. Xiao
MB MSc PhD
Dr Xiao is currently a Consultant Cardiologist at the Homerton University Hospital and is on the GMC Specialist Register for Cardiology. He graduated in 1983 from Hunan Medical University (Yale in China), where he also underwent postgraduate training in cardiology was awarded MSc.
Having undertaken further training and research at the Royal Brompton Hospital, Dr Xiao was awarded PhD in Cardiology at the University of London in 1994. He has since worked in Central Middlesex Hospital and Ealing Hospital.
Apart from managing common cardiac conditions, Dr Xiao has special interest in electrocardiography, echocardiography and electromechanical relations of the heart. He has established stress echo services in three London hospitals and involved in advance echocardiography. He takes part in graduate and postgraduate medical education.
Dr Xiao is a member of British Cardiovascular Society, British Society of Echocardiography, American Heart Association, and European Society of Cardiology. He has published extensively and has contributed to international cardiology conferences and book chapters.
